Helps suppress weeds
The opaque film blocks light and helps suppress many annual weeds. Planting holes, film edges and established perennial weeds may still need separate management. Use our weed-escape checks to identify where weeds are emerging.

Black plastic mulch film for vegetable rows, strawberry beds and greenhouse growing beds. Send your bed dimensions, crop and order quantity to discuss PE film roll sizes and planting-hole requirements. Not sure of the specification? Start with your application.
Product specification
Black mulch film is not selected by color alone. Crop cycle, bed profile, installation method, planting pattern and packing requirement all affect the finished roll. See our mulch film thickness guide for units and selection checks.

Field function
The opaque film blocks light and helps suppress many annual weeds. Planting holes, film edges and established perennial weeds may still need separate management. Use our weed-escape checks to identify where weeds are emerging.
Covering the bed helps reduce direct moisture loss from exposed soil. Irrigation layout and field conditions still determine the actual water-management result. Review drip layout and root-zone checks before specifying the planting-hole pattern.
Black film absorbs solar radiation and can warm the upper soil layer. The effect varies with climate, season, soil, film contact and crop canopy.
The film separates crop foliage and fruit from exposed soil, helping maintain a cleaner planting surface in strawberry, melon and vegetable production.
Specification review
Share the information you already have. If dimensions or hole spacing are not settled, describe your crop, bed layout and laying equipment so the options can be discussed.
Commercial applications
The same black film specification is not automatically suitable for every bed, machine or crop cycle.

Film width should match the bed profile and anchoring margin. Hole layout must follow row count and plant spacing, not a generic pattern.

Specify the expected crop cycle, laying method and bed dimensions. Roll size can be planned around field handling and equipment limits.

Confirm whether the film requires pre-punched holes and how irrigation lines will sit under the mulch before the pattern is approved.

Indoor bed dimensions, irrigation configuration and manual or mechanical installation should be included in the specification review.
Order review
Discuss the following inspection points with your enquiry so the quotation can identify the checks and documentation required for your order.

Confirm the agreed PE structure, color, dimensions, winding direction, perforation drawing, core and packing before the run.
Specify thickness and width tolerances, appearance requirements and any sampling or test criteria needed for acceptance.
Include roll winding and, where ordered, hole diameter, row layout and repeated spacing in the agreed inspection requirements.
Specify roll identification, weight or length, labels, protective wrapping and any pallet or handling requirements.
Tell us which technical, inspection or shipping documents your purchasing process requires. Availability and scope should be agreed before the order is placed.
Request for quotation
The minimum order quantity is 1 metric tonne (1,000 kg). Tell us what you grow, where the film will be used and the approximate quantity. Add dimensions or a drawing if available; a complete technical specification is not needed for an initial enquiry. For a sample request, include the specification and delivery destination.
Please mention Black Mulch Film and describe your crop, quantity and any dimensions you already know.

Buyer questions
Short answers about material, weed suppression, dimensions, perforation and quotation inputs.
It is used to cover crop beds and rows, helping suppress many annual weeds, reduce direct soil-surface evaporation, influence soil temperature and keep the growing surface cleaner.
This page covers conventional polyethylene (PE) mulch film. Material grade and formulation should be specified in the quotation. A biodegradable mulch film is a separate product, not an alternative name for ordinary PE film.
No. Its opaque surface helps suppress many annual weeds by blocking light, but weeds may still emerge through planting holes and film edges. Established perennial weeds may require additional management.
Thickness depends on crop cycle, field conditions, laying method and removal plan. Width should include the bed top, both sides and enough edge material for anchoring. Send the bed profile and equipment limits for review.
Subject to production confirmation, the hole shape, diameter, number of rows, row spacing and plant spacing can be produced from an approved drawing.
Start with the crop, growing location and estimated order quantity. If known, add thickness, width, roll length, core, planting-hole layout, packing and delivery destination. Missing dimensions can be discussed before a formal quotation.
No. Conventional PE mulch film should not be described as biodegradable. Plan removal after use and check local collection, recycling or disposal requirements. If soil-biodegradable film is needed, specify it as a separate product requirement.
The minimum order quantity is 1 metric tonne (1,000 kg), and the lead time is 20 days. Confirm the quantity allocation across specifications, the timing basis and the shipping schedule in your quotation.
Stock samples are free of charge. If a stock sample is unavailable, the sample-making fee is US$100 per specification. The buyer pays sample shipping costs. Include your required specification and delivery destination when requesting a sample.
